The telecommunications industry will soon be implementing widespread regulatory changes which Bipath is committed to supporting as part of a global effort to combat fraudulent spam calls and text messages—a major step and win for businesses everywhere to ensure their valid communications are received by customers. The two changes, the Application to Person messaging service, also known as A2P 10DLC, and STIR/SHAKEN, will be put in place to provide underlying Mobile Network Operators and Telecom carriers with information to verify that your text messages and calls are not spam. STIR/SHAKEN is being managed by the FCC and A2P/10DLC is being managed by https://campaignregistry.com

To ensure your messages and calls are delivered and not blocked, its important that you register your business as soon as possible!

STIR/SHAKEN is a technology framework designed to reduce fraudulent robocalls and illegal phone number spoofing. STIR stands for Secure Telephony Identity Revisited. SHAKEN stands for Secure Handling of Asserted information using toKENs. FCC is now requiring strong caller ID authentication standards and Bipath can get your business registered.

A2P/10DLC stands for application to person calls using 10 digit long code phone numbers. In laymen terms, if you are using an application not a telephone to initiate SMS text messages to mobile phones using regular 10 digit telephone (555-555-5555) numbers, NOT toll free or short codes. Historically, the regulation of standard telephone numbers to send SMS text messages has been shoddy. The Mobile Network Operators i.e. Tmobile AT&T, Sprint, Verizon and others have come formed an alliance in an attempt to thwart text message SPAM. Thus, if you plan to send SMS text messages on these networks then you must register with The Campaign Registry (Bipath handles that on your behalf), pay the required fees and be sure to play by the rules.

As part of these changes, your business may need to create a business profile that will provide verification for the communications you place. Our team is committed to supporting you through this process.

If you do not send messages to users in the United States using long code numbers, you do not need to do anything. If you are a business sending messages in the US, read on.

To get started with this process, please complete the initial registration form from within our chat messenger in the Contact Cloud app.

To successfully complete the form and therefore your business profile with Bipath, you will need the following information on hand.

  • Your Legal Business Name, Business Type, Industry, Website address, Physical Address

  • Company Status and if a public company, Stock Ticker and Exchange

  • Tax ID/FEIN

  • Point of Contact/Authorized Representative for your Business

If you send or plan to send SMS messages as part of your Contact Cloud subscription is advisable that you register for both A2P 10DLC as well as for STIR/SHAKEN.

The Bipath team will assist in either or both registrations in order to ease the burden on you.

Note, if you have multiple accounts/sub accounts for separate businesses within your Contact Cloud account, the new regulation for A2P and STIR/SHAKEN will require you submit this information for each business.

The process to register your business, and campaigns with The Campaign Registry is not free. Bipath does not make a profit on these fees as they are pass through from the Campaign Registry to you.
